Biographical History

Dora Zaslavsky Koch (1904-1987) was a pianist and a teacher. Born in Ukraine in 1905, she immigrated to the United States with her parents as a young child. She studied under Janet Schenck and was the first graduate of the Manhattan School of Music in 1920. Zaslavsky continued her studies in Philadelphia and Paris before returning to New York and teaching at the Manhattan School of Music. In 1935, she married artist John Koch and held piano lessons in their apartment for many years. Dora Zaslavsky Koch died on September 7, 1987.

Scope and Contents

Collection contains photographs taken by Lida Moser of her friends, artist John Koch and pianist Dora Zaslavsky Koch, at their New York City apartment between 1954 and 1974. The collection also includes a small group of photocopied material about Moser and Koch. This material is largely assorted newspaper articles and gallery exhibition announcements from 1960-2009.
